COURSE DESCRIPTION
START – or the beginner steps
At the Start workshop, you can learn about treibball in more detail through a short theory on its origin and function. In the rest of the day, you can see what you have learned in practice.
You can learn the basic tasks that your dog needs to perform to be successful at higher levels. We focus on making sure that the dog understands and can accurately perform the tasks, as inaccuracy becomes more pronounced as the distances increase.
During the two-day event, you can learn about building concentration in a playful manner and familiarize yourself with basic commands and their hand and body signals through eight dogs. The dogs learn what the ball (not prey) means in this sport and how to roll it.
The two days build on each other, so it is essential that the participating dog owners practice at home. This helps to ensure that those who attend the workshop gain a solid foundation and are ready to move up a level. We provide participants with complimentary course outlines for home training.
By the end of the second day, the pieces come together. With regular practice, you will be able to run beginner-level courses with your dog from a short distance.
EXAMINATION OPPORTUNITY
Every participant of the workshop – including the audience – has the opportunity to submit an exam video, in which they perform the foundational exam tasks with their dog. Every owner who submits a video will receive feedback and a certificate upon successful completion of the exam.
THE GAME – START corresponds to the first module of our THE TRAINER training program!
There is no prerequisite for participating in the workshop, but it is important that the dog can be called and wants to cooperate with the owner, knows the basic tasks (recall, sit, down, heel, stay). It is helpful if the owner is familiar with clicker training and perhaps the dog is also familiar with it.
There is no age limit, but the owner should be aware that a young dog’s endurance may not be the same as an adult’s, and it may be necessary to take breaks if the dog becomes tired.
During breaks, we recommend that dogs rest in their crates.
Sick, injured dogs, and dogs in heat are not allowed to participate in the workshop.
Kozák Enikő
Treibball Training Leader
My name is Enikő Kozák, the creator and founder of Treibball Training. I have been working as a dog school leader for 10 years, with a focus on family dog training. Many dog owners enjoy working with their dogs even after completing the courses, but we have found that many dog sports require a large time and energy investment from the owner before any results can be seen. As a former obedience competitor, I used to hold obedience training at the school, but due to the lengthy preparation for competition, the motivation of the owners often waned. This is not the case with Treibball!
Another important aspect was that Treibball provided an amazing activity for my aging dog, which was not too strenuous for her to participate in.
I first encountered Treibball in Budapest in April 2014, where I participated as a translator in a seminar held by Bärbl Rungaldier. I really liked the sport and started working on what I had learned at home. My enthusiastic students helped me a lot in experimenting on how to transmit knowledge to the owners in a thematic form. I am very grateful to them for entrusting themselves to me, as online courses or competitions were not yet available at that time. You can often see Juno on our website, as she was the one who started and taught me this sport. She showed me what to do differently and what the correct direction was.
Today, we have developed a training that is easily transferable and accessible to the owner. Treibball is not a sport that requires a lot of equipment, so owners can practice at home with just a few balls, which helps with their dog’s development.
Thanks to COVID-19, we found the first online Treibball competitions in 2020, where we achieved great results. The dogs developed a lot during this period, and I became more and more enthusiastic about the sport, as it was so much fun to play with more people.
In 2021, a handful of very enthusiastic owners with their puppies arrived at the school almost at the same time. They definitely wanted to continue working with their dogs and started attending Treibball training. They developed so quickly that in 2022, we participated in the European Championship in Prague, where we won two European Champion titles.
My goal is to allow as many dog owners as possible to try and fall in love with this wonderful sport, as it opens up incredible horizons in the relationship between dogs and humans. With our training, we aim to deliver the knowledge and experience we have gathered over the years in a quality manner.
We warmly welcome you to join us.
